Automated Payment Capture

👍

TryNow is a fully automated solution.

If you have properly set up your returns integration settings, you will never need to manually close an order or capture payment—our app handles that automatically after the shopper’s trial period ends.

If TryNow has visibility into your returns events

Applicable to: merchants that set up their integration in returns settings.

  • For shoppers that keep everything (they do not initiate a return), our system will automatically capture payment 1 day after the trial ends. This value is configurable using the Post-Trial Charge delay setting.
  • For shoppers that initiate a return before the end of their trial, our system will extend the charge date out to give enough time for returns processing and avoid prematurely charging the shopper.
    • After the return has been accepted by your team (return is processed and closed), our system will automatically capture payment only for the items kept immediately.
  • Let's say a shopper initiates a return but never sends in the item. You can allow a max amount of time before our system will capture payment for the item.
    • This is configurable using the Returns Delay setting in your Returns Software Integrations settings (see more details in Returns & Exchanges).

If TryNow does not have visibility into your returns events

This is rare but it would be applicable to merchants who do not handle returns within Shopify or use a Shopify unsupported RMS (e.g. Narvar).

You can use your trial period and post-trial charge delay settings to define fixed periods of time before an automated payment capture occurs. These would not be aware of any return events, since our system would not have visibility into returns.

If your trial period date is set to 10 days and post-trial charge delay is set to 20 days, then TryNow will always charge 30 days after the trial start date, regardless of any returns or decisions to keep items.

FAQs

Q: On a TryNow Shopify order, I see a message saying that the authorization is expiring and telling me to capture. What should I do?

You do not need to do anything and should not capture payment. TryNow tracks all authorization expiration dates and automatically places a re-authorization. This ensures that there is a valid authorization at all times during the trial so that TryNow can automatically capture for any items kept.
