Can I edit a TryNow order after it has been placed?
Shopify does allow limited order editing functionality for orders that have a fixed selling plan, such as Try Before You Buy.
What Is Editable
- You can remove items from TryNow orders.
- You can extend a trial.
- You can cancel the order entirely if needed.
What Is Not Editable
- You cannot increase the quantity of any item in an order that includes a TryNow product.
- You cannot add new items to a TryNow order.
- You cannot change the authorization amount due to bank restrictions.
- If a shopper asks for a discount code to be applied retroactively, you will need to wait until the trial has ended / payment has been captured, then issue a refund.
- You cannot change the payment method once the order is placed.
- This is because our system has already placed an authorization on the original payment method provided.
Customer Communication Guidelines
- When shoppers request changes to their Try Before You Buy orders that cannot be accommodated, we recommend the following response:
- "Unfortunately, Shopify's system limitations prevent adding items to existing Try Before You Buy orders. For additional items, we recommend placing a new Try Before You Buy order, and we can cancel your original order if needed."
