Insights Dashboard
Overview
Your Insights Dashboard serves as the primary hub for tracking key success metrics, enabling you to closely monitor the performance of your TryNow program. You can filter by specific time periods and adjust grouping or comparison intervals to review overarching trends.
Each visual includes:
- A tooltip icon that provides a more detailed definition of each metric.
- A clock icon at the top right displays the last time the data was auto-synced.
- The “Previous Period” metric in the top right corner provides comparative data from the designated prior period, based on the comparison setting at the top of the dashboard.
Please note that data from the current day is intentionally excluded; by default, the dashboard only reflects complete days’ worth of orders.
What are my sales?
Orders Over Time: Reflects the number of orders processed through TryNow within the specified timeframe, calculated based on order creation date. Hovering over a date will display a breakdown of:
- Pre-trial orders: newly created but unprocessed orders
- Trial orders: orders currently in an active trial phase
- Post-trial orders: orders that have been completed and closed
Total Order Value: Value of orders placed before returns, including shipping, taxes and fees, excluding canceled orders and based on order creation date. Note that this also includes values for Buy Now items in TryNow orders.
Total Captured Revenue: The final total net order value after returns, recorded based on the order’s closure date. This aligns with the “Net Payment” field in Shopify and represents the total amount ultimately paid by the shopper, inclusive of any Buy Now items.
Captured Orders: Number of orders completed and finalized, counted based on the order closure date.
SKU Eligibility: The percentage of active products that have the TryNow selling plan and are therefore eligible for TryNow.
What's shopper adoption like?
Shopper Opt-In Rate: The percentage of your total orders that are TryNow orders.
New vs. Returning Shoppers: Shows the ratio of first-time versus returning shoppers placing TryNow orders, based on Shopify’s "Customer Type" field.
What does order composition and shopper behavior look like?
Conversion Funnel Table: This table tracks the conversion rate for each TryLink. Our TryLinks feature monitors clicks, carts created, and resulting order placements.
Note: This differs from the landing page conversion rate in Shopify Analytics. Shopify Analytics metrics based on “Landing Page URL” focus only on sessions starting from a specific landing page. If a shopper initially arrives at a product detail page (PDP) and subsequently navigates to the TryNow collection page to complete a purchase, this conversion isn’t reflected in Shopify Analytics but is included in our conversion rate insights, as all sessions are considered, regardless of the entry point.
Shopper Feedback: This table automatically compiles unfiltered shopper feedback about their trial experience, including comments on products tried, sizing issues, and suggested improvements. Feedback is sourced from survey responses in transactional emails and interactions with Customer Support. You can export this data via the download icon for further analysis.
What are my unit economics?
Gross Average Order Value (AOV): The average gross value before returns per order, calculated as Total Order Value / Orders Over Time, based on the creation date of orders.
Gross Units Per Transaction (UPT): Represents the average number of units per transaction in a TryNow order. Note: If a shipping protection SKU is applied, it is factored into this calculation.
Net AOV: The average order value after returns, calculated as Captured Revenue / Captured Orders, based on the closure date of orders.
Success Rate: The percentage of orders where the shopper kept at least one item. Estimated by identifying if the net payment on an order exceeds the lowest-priced unit.
TryNow Discount Savings: This metric compares the average discount rate on TryNow orders vs. Buy Now orders. TryNow shoppers typically use fewer discount codes, because they see a $0 TryNow cart. If the discount rate savings is greater than 2.99%, it typically means the program is offsetting the cost of TryNow fees—in effect, paying for itself through reduced reliance on discounts.
ROI: Reflects the return on investment (ROI) from incremental TryNow revenue minus incremental costs, divided by TryNow fees. The ROI calculator enables a clear view of program ROI, factoring in all incremental returns and operational costs. Click "Modify Inputs" to enter in your incremental return costs per order/unit and any additional outbound costs per order. Click here for more details on ROI.
