Ensuring Compatibility with Fraud Tools
Many TryNow merchants use fraud prevention tools such as NoFraud, Signifyd, SEON, and others. These tools typically perform risk analysis and then automatically capture payment if an order passes fraud checks.
However, TryNow orders should not have payment captured upfront, so a small adjustment is needed to ensure compatibility.
What You Need To Do
To avoid your fraud tool capturing payment prematurely on TryNow orders, follow these steps:
- Identify the tag that your fraud tool uses for passing, non-fraudulent orders.
- Use Shopify Flow to capture payment on passing, non-TryNow orders only. Create a Shopify Flow with logic: If an order has the fraud “pass” tag and is not a TryNow order, then capture payment. See our step-by-step guide.
- Turn off automatic payment capture in your fraud tool. Disable the setting that captures payment immediately on orders that pass fraud checks. Let Shopify Flow handle it instead.
- Test your setup. Place a test TryNow order and a Buy Now order to ensure:
- TryNow orders remain in “Authorized” status
- Buy Now orders that pass fraud checks are automatically captured via Shopify Flow
Note: payment capture will still be completely automated.
The only difference is that rather than your fraud tool capturing payment, Shopify Flow will capture payment.
For your TryNow orders, TryNow will capture payment automatically after the trial ends—no manual action needed.
